Design your own flock of flying geese in a curved path across a small quilt.  Create the pathway shape on freezer paper to use as a master pattern to paper piece your original design of flying geese.

Typical flying geese are triangles twice the width of the height, evenly pointing in one direction.

Designing your own geese along a curve opens a large scope of design possibilit ies. Use

your curved flying geese as a small wall quilt, table runner, a border, or incorporate into

a larger quilt.

During class, morning will focus on design to draw your curvy geese and make your pattern. After lunch, you’ll learn this paper piecing technique to

accurately construct the curved geese. Expect to

take home a partially constructed

flock of geese with instructions to

complete it.

We look forward to having you in

class to share this very cool technique!

Making Magic, a Disappearing Block Sampler Quilt

March 19, 2022 at 4:30:00 PM

This 6-hour workshop will be structured like a "sew along". There are 9 blocks and I will teach each one in turn. I have 3 cameras: one on me, one on the sewing machine, and one pointing straight down at the cutting mat and pressing surface.  I will demonstrate how to make the block along with little tips on accurate piecing and pressing. The students will follow along and take turns showing the class how their block came out. The Zoom features allow me to answer questions immediately and help anyone who might be having a little trouble. As some students finish before others, I will show other possible layouts and talk about things like how to enlarge the pattern or use different colors and how these blocks might look in a finished quilt.
