Improv Inspired by Nature

June 14, 2025 at 5:00:00 PM

Have you always wanted to try improv piecing but didn’t know where to begin?

In this class, we will use photo references as starting points to design very abstract, paper piecing blocks from plants, animals or nature scenes.

A simple color palette will be chosen for your piecing.  One color for your subject and one color for your background. 5- 6 values/ shades of each color will be needed. Solid colors are best. It is best to have darker values for the subject and lighter values for the background.

Slot Canyon/Donkey

June 13, 2025 at 5:00:00 PM

In this class you will learn Vicki’s technique for turned edge machine piecing using a choice of either the slot canyon pattern or a donkey pattern.

Vicki uses Floriani Stitch and Wash Fusible water - soluble tearaway stabilizer to construct the entire quilt. It gets soft and stays in the finished quilt. It is easy to sew through and gives lovely stability to the finished wall quilt. This is not applique but a clean turned edge machine piecing technique that can be used for bold landscapes and portraits.
